Broadway Arts Center Classes

Broadway Arts Center offers a wide variety of Dance & Theater classes. From toddlers to teens, we have classes for all levels and abilities, even Zumba fitness for adults! Our Full Season classes run from Sept – May ending with our spring recital. We also offer 6-week introductory “Mini-Classes” throughout out the year. Class Placement

Its important for students to be placed in the appropriate age/level class for them to be successful. The first month is considered a trial. The grade/age levels listed below are a guideline, however, students may be moved to a higher or lower level at the Instructors discretion.

We run many classes throughout the week so we can almost always accommodate your scheduling needs! See below for detailed class descriptions and download our Class Schedule for days & times.

Siblings

We have many families with dancing siblings, so we know the unique joys and challenges multiple children can be on your schedule (and wallet)! For this reason, we offer very generous discounts on tuition for siblings. With our newly expanded facility we are able to offer siblings classes on the same day back-to-back or even simultaneously! Like many studios, we perform multiple recitals, and the task of arranging siblings together in the same show can be quite difficult! For this reason we have designated which class is in each show on our class schedule at the beginning of the year. So you will know upfront which classes to choose so that your children are in the same show!

FULL SEASON CLASSES

Pre-School

PRE-BALLET  (Age 3-4) (40 min) Uses imagination, music, and props, and creative movement  to introduce basic BALLET skills. Added focus on body control & awareness, balance, coordination, language & creative expression. Students must be potty trained, able to listen & follow directions and confidently attend class without parent. PRE-BALLET II & TAP  (age 4/pre-K) This 45 minute class is the same as our PRE-BALLET class above plus the introduction of TAP!  Tuition rate: 1

SING & SWING (Gr K) (45 min) This FUN Kindergarten PRE-BALLET & TAP class is a continuation of our pre-ballet and  tap. Students will learn how to use the Ballet Barre, aquire more skills with added attention to rhythm, balance, coordination vocabulary and self expression. Tuition Rate: 1

NEW!!!! SING, SWING & FLING! (Gr K) BALLET, TAP & TUMBLING ! Tumbling builds strong muscles, flexibility, coordination and confidence and its FUN! Tuition Rate: 1+

NEW!!! FULL SEASON TUMBLING CLASS!! (Age 4-6)

This 30 minute introductory tumbling class concentrates on body control and awareness, balance, flexibility and strength. Students must be able to listen and follow directions and confidently attend class without parent. This class does NOT perform in the recital. ONLY $35 a month if taken on its own. JUST $15 more a month if you are already enrolled in a dance class!!

School Age

• STORY BALLET 1 & 2 (Gr K-1) (Gr 2-4) (45 min) Students love this unique approach to learning BALLET technique using DRAMA, story books, costumes, props & plenty of imagination!  Tuition Rate: 1

• NEW!! DANCE MIX 1 & 2 (Gr 1-2)  (Gr 2-3) This high energy HIP-HOP and TUMBLING class will work on building strength, coordination and confidence! Tuition Rate: 1

• SONG & DANCE LEVEL 1 A/B/ C (Gr. 1-2)  In this series of classes students will continue to broaden their skills, building technique  with more barre work, center work and traveling steps. Added focus on vocabulary, memorization, flexibility and expression. Performs 1 dance in recital. Choose:
• SONG & DANCE 1A (Ballet & Tap Tuition Rate: 1)
• SONG & DANCE 1B (Ballet & Hip-Hop Tuition Rate: 1)
• SONG & DANCE 1C (Ballet, Tap & Hip-Hop Tuition Rate: 1+)
• SONG & DANCE 1D (Tap & Hip-Hop Tuition Rate: 1)

• SONG & DANCE LEVEL 2 A/B/C (Gr. 2-3) Students will work on more complex combinations working on extension, stretch, jumps, turns and choreography. Added attention to technique, flexibility, rhythm and expression. As in our SONG & DANCE 1 series students may choose 2 or 3 subjects to study.  Students in this level who study 3 subjects willperform 2 dances in the recital.

TWEENS

TRIPLE THREAT (Gr. 4-6) (75 min) BALLET, HIP-HOP, TAP This fun recreation class includes 30 min of Ballet, 25 min of HIP-HOP and 20 min of TAP. Students will increase flexibility, strength and endurance while building confidence, grace and poise. Add a Musical Theater class for an all around arts education! Class performs 2 dances in recital. Tuition Rate 1.5

JR DANCE COMPANY (Gr. 4-6) (75 min) This class is for more serious students who will study PRE-POINTE, BALLET, TAP, HIP-HOP/JAZZ . Strict discipline, attendance & dress code. Students must have previous training, demonstrate excellent attitude and class behavior as well as

good flexibility, technique and expression. An instructor recommendation or placement audition isrequired to enroll. Students are also required to take a Musical Theater class along with the dance classes. Jr Company students will have more responsibilities in the recital as well as be required to participate in other performance opportunities.  Tuition rate: 2.5 (for all requirements)

MUSICAL THEATER 1 (Gr. 3-6) In this introductory theater class, students will work on the 3 disciplines needed for the stage: SINGING! DANCING! and ACTING!  Class involves scripted and improvisational activities.  Requires confident readers (especially reading aloud), memorization

skills and creative thinkers!! Students may AUDITION for a small speaking role in our recital. Tuition Rate: 1

TEENS & PRE-TEENS

TEEN HIP-HOP/JAZZ & TAP (Gr. 7-12) (60 min) This open level Hip-Hop Class includes stretch, strengthening exercises, turns, jumps & tricks followed by funky, fun, choreography! Add on TAP for no extra cost!! All levels are welcome to attend this class. Tuition Rate: 1

TEEN LYRICAL BALLET (Gr. 7-12) (45 min) This teen Ballet class includes warm up and stretch, technique at the barre, across the floor and center work. Students enjoy dancing to contemporary music and learning ballet technique in a non-intimidating environment. All Levels are welcome. Tuition Rate: 1

COMPANY CLASSES (Gr. 7-12) For more serious students with previous training we offer BALLET/ POINTE , HIP-HOP / TAP and MUSICAL THEATER. Requires previous training, commitment, discipline, and a positive attitude. Strict attendance & dress policy required. Students are placed by invitation or participate in a placement audition conducted on the first day of class.

Company Theater students may audition for major roles in our Spring Recital.

6-WEEK “MINI-CLASSES”

JUMP, JIGGLE & JIVE (2-4 yrs) (40 min) Explore MUSIC & MOVEMENT together using scarves, hoops, shakers, balloons & bubbles! PARENT PARTICIPATION REQUIRED!! Join the Fun! We offer several different sessions each with all new music and dances!  We offer Sat morning sessions beginning in Oct  & Jan. As well as weekday sessions beginning  in Sept & June.  Please see our Class Schedule for times and  Calendar for dates. This class is so much fun that occasionally siblings want to join in! (No problem!) Siblings outside the age range are welcome to tag along for just $5 a class! This class does not perform in the recital.

TIP TOES & TUTUS! (Age 3-5) (40 Min) This 6-week class is for students who completed our Jump, Jiggle & Jive class and/or did not make the age cut off for our full season program! This class introduces students to PRE-BALLET with a focus on body control & awareness, balance, coordination, language & creative expression. Students must be potty trained, able to listen & follow directions and confidently attend class without parent. Ballet shoes, leotard & tights required.  This class does not perform Offered Fall, Winter and Summer Sessions!

DRAMA QUEENS (GR K-2) (45 min) This class introduces students to Acting, Singing & Dancing by practicing pantomime, improvisation and vocal skills while developing confidence and creative expression. This class does not perform in the recital. Offered in winter session!

STORY BOOK DANCE CLASSES  (AGE 4-6) These 45 min DANCE & ART classes are based on popular childrens books. Includes Dance, Drama and crafts!!  This class does not perform in the recital. Offered Spring Session
